What Types of Projects Does Nested Take On?
We work exclusively on single-family homes and specialize in effiecient living. Whether you watn to design your dream home or just reimagine your current space, we take on projects of all shapes and sizes. Take a look at our portfolio to get an idea of what we’ve already done or contact us to walk us through your project.
Who Can I Expect To Work With?
We believe in a team approach to the design process – Laura and Jennifer work together on every project, so you are sure to get the best of both minds. But we also believe in a wider team approach to the project as a whole. We find it’s best to get everyone – contractors, craftsmen, ourselves and the client – talking as early as possible.
Do You Have Contractors That You Work With?
Of course! We work with several contractors we know and trust, and will recommend them based on the needs of the client and project. If you already have a contractor, that’s great, too. We are always happy to collaborate with other team players.
How Much Will My Project Cost?
We can’t estimate construction costs – that’s a question for your contractor – but we can help guide you within your budget. We have uniquely structured our design process to help you select and team up with a contractor early on. We believe this early team approach is the best way to get an accurate understanding of costs and timeline. It also helps to reduce the likelihood of potentially costly changes down the road.
I Found A Plan Online That I Want To Build, Can I Use It?
If you discover your dream home design online, you should absolutely purchase the plans and have a local draftsman or engineer verify their compliance with your state’s current building code. While we don’t make changes to other people’s designs, we do want to know about anything that inspires you, including design plans, and Houzz or Pinterest images.
How Do You Establish Your Design Fees?
Our design fees are project-specific and based on overall scope and complexity. While we don’t base our fees on construction costs, you can estimate that design fees will likely be 5-10% of your overall budget. It’s important to remember that every project is unique. Many of our clients like to get an idea of how much they need to set aside in their project budgets for design – that’s why we offer a detailed design proposal free of charge. Contact us to set up an appointment to discuss your project and we’ll walk you through the process.
Why Should I Hire Nested over Other Designers, Draftsman, or Architects?
You can read more about the distinctions between Nested and other designers here, but long story short, we understand the nuances of what makes a house a “home.” We’ve chosen to focus our design careers exclusively on residential projects, and over the years have become experts at problem-solving on a smaller, more intimate scale. We use this insight to tailor design solutions specifically to our clients’ unique spaces and needs.
